South Korea

South Korea, officially the Republic of Korea (ROK), is a country in East Asia, constituting the southern part of the Korean Peninsula, and sharing a land border with North Korea. The Republic of Korea has been in existence since 1948 and is subdivided into sixteen administrative divisions, i.e. nine provinces, six city-provinces and the capital city of Seoul. The head of state is the elected president. Christianity and Buddhism are the country’s principal religions. Following Japan’s defeat in the Second World War, the Japanese domination of Korea came to an end and the Korean peninsula was divided into a Northern state (the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea), which received support from the Soviet Union, and a Southern democratic state that was renamed the Republic of Korea (ROK) in 1948. This country module concerns only the Republic of Korea, or South Korea.

Student visas Types:
D-2: Visa for Regular Educational Program. This visa is for any student enrolling in a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph. D program at a junior college, university, or graduate school.

D-4: Visa for General Training. This visa is for any person attending a university-run language school, a qualified educational institute, or any other institute other than an academic research institute.

1. Certificate of Admission (the original as well as a photocopy)
2. Scholarship certificate (the original as well as a photocopy)
3. A photocopy of the university’s business registration certificate
4. One recent passport-size photo of the applicant
5. Original passport and a photocopy thereof
6. Marriage certificate
7. Family relationship certificate
8. Medical Report on Tuberculosis from only 4 designated hospitals by the Embassy;

• Korea Nepal Friendship Nepal Friendship Hospital (Korea Thimi Hospital), Bhaktapur,

9. Other job-related documents such as business registration certificate, Permanent Account Number (PAN) registration certificate, etc.
10. All school documents and certificates (approved by the Nepali Ministry of Education)
11. Secondary-level education transcripts and character certificate (the originals as well as photocopies)
12. Higher secondary-level education transcripts and character certificate (the originals as well as photocopies)
13. University and final education levels’ transcripts (such as master or doctoral degrees) and character certificates (the originals as well as photocopies)
14. Family asset evaluation certificate (certified by a chartered accountant with supporting documents, the originals as well as photocopies)
15. Bank statement for last 6 months (to be accepted only from A level bank)
